If you caught the Monday interview with Alice then you’d recognise that this is the salad that she’s most loving right now from her new book Salad for Days (100% recommend you get your hands on a copy). Alice’s sell was that “if you love cacio e pepe, then you're going to love this salad. And it's just such a great way of using up your Parmesan or pecorino.”

I love this mix of peas, both fresh and frozen, and the idea that you can chop and change as availability dictates. This recipe has been in my head for at least the last few weeks and there was a faint feeling that there was a connection that I just couldn’t make to some far off memory. Had I eaten such a dish with dear friends, or in some magnificent restaurant?

Then, at 6:03am this morning as I stood at the kitchen sink making my first coffee of the day: Cheezy Peaz! A reference that will only mean something to lovers of British nineties popular culture and the Fast Show’s various Cheezy Peaz sketches. An added curse or gift will be that if you were there you’ll now start to remember the many catchphrases from that show. I’ll start you off wioth Scorchio!; you ain’t seen me roiiiight; ohhhh sir.

I’ll certainly be making Alice’s recipe in comeing weeks. The book is at this stage heavily bookmarked. And I may even try and unlock the secret of Cheezy Peaz as well.

As mentioned in last weeks Something for the Weekend, you’ll now be getting Between Meals three times a week. Monday and Wednesday will be behind the paywall, and Fridfay will be mostly free. Annual subscriptions will be going up to just $50AUD from November 18th but you can still grab an annual sub for the low, low price $40AUD until then. I’ll even throw is a free set of steak knives (not really). For those outside of Australia that’s just 25GBP, 33USD, 30EUR.
